Easy Tomato Pasta Sauce with Herbs

A rich tomato and herb sauce that goes perfect with any pasta dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic chopped
  • 3 tablespoon tomato puree
  • 500g passata
  • 200g tinned chopped plum tomatoes
  • 40g soft brown sugar
  • 1 lemon juiced squeezed
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano dried or fresh
  • 2 tsps basil dried or fresh

Instructions

  • Place a saucepan on a low to medium heat then add the oil. Allow to heat then add the chopped onion and garlic to the pan. Cook for 2 minutes then add the tomato puree, passata and the chopped plum tomatoes and continue to stir gently.
  • Add the brown sugar and lemon juice and stir until the sugar dissolves. Add the salt, black pepper, oregano and basil then stir until combined. Leave to simmer for 10 minutes and serve with pasta or use for your meat.
