    Low Carb Cheeseburger Bowl

    This recipe makes a healthy cheeseburger salad bowl that is perfect to serve for lunch or dinner. The salad includes all the ingredients you will find in a cheeseburger but with a fraction of the calories.

    If you love cheeseburgers and are looking for a healthier option then try this healthy cheeseburger bowl recipe. The recipe is quick and easy so you can have this meal ready in around 30 minutes.

    With this recipe, you get to enjoy all the flavours in a burger for less calories and less carbs. The recipe includes the ingredients to make a burger sauce dressing that complements the flavours in the cheeseburger bowl.

    Most burgers are high in saturated fats but for this cheeseburger bowl, I use lean mince which helps to keep the calories down. The fat in the meal comes mainly from avocados which are healthy fats that are important for health. Once you taste this cheeseburger bowl, you probably won’t even miss regular cheeseburgers.

    Ingredients for Cheeseburger Salad Bowl

    Meat Ingredients

    • Oil - use any oil for cooking.
    • Mince - I use lean minced beef with 5% fat for this recipe.
    • Onion - use a brown onion.
    • Garlic - use fresh garlic cloves.
    • Seasonings - salt, black pepper, onion granules, garlic granules and paprika.

    Salad Ingredients

    • Lettuce - I use romaine lettuce for this recipe but you can use any lettuce.
    • Onion - for the salad I use a red onion.
    • Avocados - I use a hass avocado.
    • Tomatoes - I use cherry tomatoes.
    • Gherkins - or burger pickles.
    • Cheese - I use cheddar cheese for this recipe.

    Burger Sauce Dressing Ingredients

    • Mayonnaise - I use reduced fat mayonnaise.
    • Mustard - use America mustard.
    • Ketchup - use any type of ketchup.
    • Vinegar - use white wine vinegar.

    How to Make Cheeseburger Salad Bowl

    1. To a frying pan, add the sunflower oil and place the frying pan on a medium to high heat. Once heated, add the beef mince, onions and garlic. Break up the mince and stir until there is no pink left on the meat.

    2. Add and mix in the salt, black pepper, onion granules, garlic powder and paprika. Add the water to the pan and reduce to a low heat. Allow to simmer for 25 minutes or until the water has dried out then turn of the heat and set aside.

    3. Place all the salad ingredients together in the serving bowls then spoon the minced beef onto the salad and sprinkle on the cheese. Mix all the burger sauce ingredients together in a small bowl and drizzle on the salad then serve.

    Recipe Tips

    • This recipe serves 2 but you can easily double the ingredients to serve 4.

    Storage

    Ingredients

    For the Meat

    • 1 teaspoon sunflower oil
    • 200g raw beef mince 5%
    • 1 small onion (chopped)
    • 2 cloves garlic (chopped)
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon onion granules
    • 1 teaspoon garlic granules
    • ½ teaspoon paprika
    • 40ml water

    For the Salad

    • 160g romaine lettuce (chopped)
    • 1 small red onion (chopped)
    • 1 medium avocado (sliced)
    • 100g cherry tomatoes (halved)
    • 80g gherkins/pickles (sliced)
    • 30g cheddar cheese (grated)

    For the Burger Sauce Dressing

    • 4 tablespoon mayonnaise
    • 1 tablespoon mustard American
    • 1 teaspoon ketchup
    • 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar

    Instructions

    • To a frying pan, add the sunflower oil and place the frying pan on a medium to high heat. Once heated, add the beef mince, onions and garlic. Break up the mince and stir until there is no pink left on the meat.
