This recipe makes homemade breakfast sausage patties that are so easy to make and taste similar to McDonalds sausage patties. The meat is seasoned with herbs and spices which complement the meat and gives the patties the best sausage flavour.

These homemade breakfast sausage patties are so delicious and go great with scrambled eggs or you can serve them with egg and cheese in bagels or muffins similar to a McDonalds breakfast. Like McDonalds, you can also serve them with pancakes and some maple or golden syrup.

Serve them for breakfast, lunch or brunch for a satisfying meal. They are a good source of protein with each sausage patty containing around 16 grams of protein.

This sausage patties recipe is super simple and all the ingredients go into one bowl before being shaped into round patties and cooked until they are golden brown. You can also shape the sausage patties and freeze them until you are ready to cook them. Just make sure to throughly defrost them before cooking.

What Meat to Use for Breakfast Sausage Patties?

To make these breakfast patties, you can use pork mince or turkey mince. I have tested the recipe with both and they both taste great. If you use pork mince use 10 - 20% fat and if using turkey use 7% fat mince.

    Ingredients for Breakfast Sausage Patties

Please find the full list of ingredients and quantities in the recipe card at the end of the post.

    • Mince - you can use ground pork or turkey which should be above 7% fat.
    • Seasonings - to season the meat, I use salt, black pepper, onion granules, nutmeg, mace, sage and parsley.
    • Sugar - a little sugar is used to slightly caramelise the patties and give them a slightly sweet flavour.
    • Rice flour - helps to give the sausage patties a better texture.
    • Oil - any oil for cooking.

How to Make Breakfast Sausage Patties

    1. Add all the ingredients to a bowl then use your hands to mix all the ingredients together. Ensure you combine the ingredients well.

    2. Divide the meat into 6 pieces (roughly 92g each) then shape each piece into balls. Place each ball between 2 pieces of foil or parchment paper and press until the patties are thin and flat.

    3. Place a large non-stick frying pan on a medium heat then lightly grease with a little oil. Once the oil heats, place 1 - 2 patties in the pan and cook for 6 - 8 minutes turning halfway through. They should be golden brown on the outside with no pink inside. Remove and cook the rest in batches.
