- Broccoli - I use tenderstem broccoli.
- Stir fry sauce - includes sesame oil, lime juice and soy sauce.
- Prawns - I use raw king prawns, also known as shrimp.
- Seasonings for the prawns - black pepper, garlic granules and onion granules.
- Oil - I use sunflower oil for this recipe but use any oil you prefer.
- Onion - use a brown onion.
- Ginger - use fresh root ginger.
- Garlic - use fresh garlic cloves.
- Peppers - red bell pepper.
- Sesame seeds - for garnish.
How to Make Broccoli Stir Fry with Sesame and Ginger
1. Place a pot of water on a high heat. Once the water is boiling place the tender stem broccoli into the water for 2 minutes. Strain using a colander and set aside.
2. In a small bowl, add and mix the sesame oil, lime juice and soy sauce. Set aside. Remove any excess water on the prawns by patting them with a kitchen paper towel then season with black pepper, garlic granules and onion granules.
3. Add the oil to a frying pan and place on a medium to high heat. Once the oil is sizzling, add the prawns to the pan and cook for 3 - 4 turning frequently. Remove from the frying pan using a slotted spoon and set aside.
4. To the same pan, add the onions, ginger and garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Add the red bell peppers, tender stem broccoli and cook for another 2 minutes. Pour on the stir fry sauce then add the prawns back to the pan. Stir everything together and serve immediately with rice, noodles or cauliflower rice.
